Psio Crew

The energy of Highland tradition meets electronic music, hip-hop and dub, creating an explosive mix that has captivated audiences from the Beskid Mountains to major European festivals.

Psio Crew is one of the most original bands on the Polish folk scene. The group was founded in 2003 in Bielsko-Biała by Maciej “Kamer” Szymonowicz and Mateusz “Gooral” Górny. From the very beginning, the artists focused on an innovative fusion of traditional Highland music with modern genres such as hip-hop, drum and bass, dub, ragga and nu jazz, creating their distinctive electro-highlander sound.

The band’s debut album Szumi Jawor Soundsystem, released in 2007, quickly gained recognition from both audiences and critics. Promoted by the single “Hajduk”, the record reached bestseller lists and earned the band two nominations for the Fryderyk Awards in the categories Folk/Ethno Album of the Year and New Face of Phonography. The album was also named Folk Bestseller of the Year by the online etno music store Serpent.pl.

Psio Crew’s music is a vibrant fusion of traditional Highland songs and pastoral instruments with electronics, beatbox and contemporary music production. The band draws inspiration both from the heritage of the Beskid region and from pop culture, creating a fresh and natural reinterpretation of Polish folk music.

Psio Crew concerts take the form of energetic performances in which Highland singing meets beatbox and electronic sounds, while traditional culture intertwines with elements of contemporary street art. The band has played several hundred concerts in Poland and abroad, performing at renowned festivals such as Sziget Festival, Fusion Festival, Colours of Ostrava, Open’er Festival and Przystanek Woodstock.

The group has also participated in numerous international projects and artistic collaborations. Today, Psio Crew remains one of the most recognizable bands combining Polish folk traditions with modern music, consistently developing the idea of a contemporary and open interpretation of Highland culture.
