Join us for the concert of Tinariwen band! The pioneers of African blues are returning to Poland in September for their only Polish performance as part of the African Beats series. The band is coming to Europe with material from their latest album, ‘Amatssou’.
Tinariwen is a Malian musical band, playing African blues, founded in 1982 in a Tuareg rebel camp in Libya. The group actively supports the long-standing struggle of this Saharan people for an independent state, regularly performing in countries in Europe and North America. Some of the band’s songs are in French. The themes addressed in Tinariwen’s compositions touch on important social issues facing contemporary Tuaregs, related to the abandonment of nomadic lifestyles, mass migration to cities in the northern Sahel, and the loss of the nomadic identity. Local politician Iyad Ag Ghali even sponsored the group as a token of gratitude for its contribution to promoting awareness of Tuareg culture worldwide. The band performs traditional music of African Berbers, despite the use of modern instruments.
