One of the greatest saxophonists in the history of jazz music – Jan Garbarek returns to Poland! The Norwegian musician, along with his supergroup and one of the world’s best percussionists, Trilok Gurtu, will perform on November 25th in Warsaw, and the following day, November 26th, in the Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk!

Every concert by Jan Garbarek is an event that stays in memory for a long time. His music breathes and allows space for breathing. It has a simple yet complex sound. On the one hand, it is as intricate as a hymn, and on the other hand, it is economical, humorous, sometimes serious, immersed in contemplation, and yet exceptionally open. Today, it is impossible to talk about jazz without mentioning this outstanding saxophonist. He is fascinated by folk and ethnic creativity, loves musical journeys through time and space – this enriches his music but also provokes meetings with artists from different cultures and stylistic backgrounds. His last concert in Poznań, which took place in 2011 at the Dominican Fathers’ Church, still resonates in the minds of all who had the privilege of attending that event. His concerts unfold in a highly organic style, simultaneously building increasing tension. Jan Garbarek’s appearances in Poland are exceedingly rare, so it would be careless to miss his November performances.

His sound has become his unmistakable signature, which for some time now has taken on a dimension different from what is commonly understood as jazz. Thanks to countless recordings, concerts in the most important concert halls worldwide, years of collaboration with Keith Jarrett, and unprecedented cooperation with the Hilliard Ensemble, the popularity of this exceptional saxophonist extends across all musical genres and boundaries. In his compositions and improvisations, Jan Garbarek reveals himself as a virtuoso of incredibly melodic music that penetrates directly into our souls. The expansive sonic space stretches from absolute serenity to expressive ecstasy, radiating an astonishing feeling of peace that never allows a moment of boredom.
